Don't be a spectator, be a Tiger!Join Tiger Bay here!

President’s Message: December 14, 2015

December 14, 2015

Dear Tampa Tiger Bay Club Member:

Your Tampa Tiger Bay Club Board of Directors is excited to present our nominees to the Board of Directors to serve three-year terms beginning in 2016. The Club would like to thank Susan Smith and Peter Cavalli for their past service to the Board. As you will see below, Peggy Land’s term is expiring as well; but she desired to continue her service to the Club for another term and the Board saw fit to honor that request by nominating her for another term.

At our membership luncheon on January 15, 2016, we will have an election with regards to our nominees. We are filling five board positions. As such, if there are no additional nominees, we will simply confirm our nominees. If there are additional nominees, we will have an election where membership will vote in favor of five candidates.

    As such, our nominees are:

    Diane Egner (D)

    Mark Proctor (R)

    April Schiff (R)

    Edith Stewart (D)

    Peggy Land (D)

Their pictures and biographies are below.

As always, don’t be a spectator, be a Tiger!

Sincerely,

Adam L. Bantner, II

President, Tampa Tiger Bay Club

Edith Stewart

Edith Stewart

Edith Stewart

Brought to Florida as a small child by her war factory worker parents, Edith has lived in the Tampa Bay area all of her meaningful life.  Taught responsibility and hard work at an early age, Edith did each of the jobs in her parents’ restaurant and helped with maintenance and care of their rental properties.

Interested in local government while living in St. Petersburg, she was actively involved with city council, the Jr. League and the Girl Scouts of America as a Jr. Girl Scout troop leader for six years.  After teaching and banking careers there, the family relocated to Hillsborough County where she became a member of the Hillsborough County League of Women Voters and participated in the public hearing process which led to the creation of single member legislative districts in the state of Florida.  That interest led to her employment as Legislative Assistant to a newly elected member of the Florida House of Representatives.

After ten years working for the Legislature, local government called again.  Working for the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections and then the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, she was able to continue doing what she likes the best – helping citizens to understand and to access their government.

The mother of three successful children and three outstanding adult grandchildren, she is enjoying active retirement participation in her community through involvement with several charitable activities.
